Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born in a middle class Rajput family in Ranchi, Jharkhand. His father’s name is Paan Singh and mother’s name is Mrs. Paan Singh and his family got a government residence to live in Ranchi. Dhoni’s mother Mrs. Devki Devi was an ordinary housewife. Dhoni has a sister named Jayanti and a brother named Narendra. Dhoni’s elder brother Narendra Singh is working in politics and his sister Jayanti Gupta is a teacher. Earlier, Dhoni used to have long hair, which he has now cut because he wanted to look like his favorite Bollywood star. Dhoni is a fan of Adam Gilchrist and has idolized him since childhood.
Dhoni studied at The AV Jawahar Vidyalaya Mandir. Dhoni had special interest in both the games badminton and football. In the inter-school competition, Dhoni represented the school in both the sports where he showed good performance in badminton and football due to which he was selected in the district and club level.
